Kandi Burruss, star of Bravo TV’s ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ and her powerhouse producer fiancé, Todd Tucker, have teamed up to produce ‘A Mother’s Love,’ a musical stage play based loosely on Kandi’s rise to fame and her mother’s ongoing interference in her love life.
Although Burruss is starring in the play, set to open later this month in Atlanta, she and Todd have enlisted the help of platinum-selling artist Eddie Levert, “As We Lay” singer Shirley Murdock, Grammy nominated Q Parker of 112, and former Danity Kane member D Woods. Rounding out the star studded cast is Chandra Currelly who has starred in various Tyler Perry productions, YouTube sensation Funky Dineva, former NFL player Olrick Johnson and L-Breezy of Atlanta’s V103 radio station. The production will also mark the acting debut of Burruss’ ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ cast mate and new divorcee Porsha Stewart.
The Grammy Award winning singer/songwriter had this to say about the play that attempts to capture the rollercoaster relationship between a mother and her daughter, “Though things are exaggerated, you will see moments of my life in the musical. Writing ‘A Mother’s Love’ has been therapy for me in many ways. I’ve had to focus and not only co-write the script which is loosely about my life but have also written twenty songs for the play in a very short amount of time which has allowed me to unload a lot of emotions…”
