Brandy & Monica Plotting Joint Tour

Their new duet is not the only thing Brandy and Monica are collaborating on. Following the release of their first record in 14 years, the former rivals are plotting a joint tour for this Summer!
Monica shared the news during an interview with Hot 93.7’s Jenny Boom Boom. “We’re dedicated to a tour in the summer,” she revealed.
They recently shot a video for the Rico Love-produced single “It All Belongs to Me,” which will appear on both of their upcoming albums. “Looking back at it, it was so silly and so juvenile that we’re dedicated to this song in a different way,” said Monica.
While nothing has been finalized, they’re optimistic that the tour will come to fruition. “We’re working on that now and trying to find different sponsors and people that will get us in the cities we feel like we should be in, so it’s not just as easy as saying it, but we’re actually putting forth the effort to try and make sure it happens.”
When “The Boy Is Mine” was released in 1998, they were unable to enjoy their success together. “We’re dedicated to this song in a different way because now we’re old enough to know that there’s strength in unity and there’s strength in numbers, so us coming together is actually enjoyable now,” explained Mo. “We both have kids, we talk about them, we have a good time—we didn’t do that the first time. We never experienced ‘The Boy Is Mine.’”
Monica’s seventh album New Life is due April 10, while Brandy’s RCA/Chameleon Records debut is scheduled for a May release.
This could be a massive tour, that would easily sell out. Are you excited for Monica and Brandy to hit the road??

Kreayshawn Reaffirms Sexuality, "I’ve Dated Girls & Liked Girls. But They’re Usually…"
News: Kreayshawn Reaffirms Sexuality, “I’ve Dated Girls Liked Girls. But They’re Usually…”
Wednesday, Feb 22, 2012 1:38PM

West Coast rapper Kreayshawn opens up on her sexuality in the new issue of GQ magazine, reaffirming her interest in the same sex, however, refuting the title of fully bi-sexual.
Within the March 2012 feature, Kreay clarifies her stance toward ladies.
There’s a music video from before she was famous called “Online Fantasy”: Kreayshawn’s in a sheer lace robe when a soft-looking girl wearing a bra apparates through her laptop screen and they commence kissing and heavy petting. It’s all wonderfully self-serious and terrible, not to mention lit like a laser-tag palace. (Kreay told me she is bisexual, but not that bisexual: “I’m, like, a person who likes love. And I can find love in any type of person. I’ve dated girls and I’ve liked girls. But they’re usually straight girls, so it never works out. I mean, I’m not that gay, so I don’t have the energy to convince someone else to be gay, you know?”) (GQ)
Last year, Kreay hinted at her sexual orientation and said she did not take gender too seriously.
“As far as relationships go, it hasn’t really been on my mind. I can’t really speak for anyone else, but I’m not a raging lesbian, I can tell you that. I’m an occasional lesbian, but it’s more for me about a personal connection. I’m a creative person. I’m a busy person. I’m not seeking anything out be it color or gender or anything. I’m just out here in the free world doing the free thing.” (Complex)
A few months back, the West Coast rapper jokingly described her ability to pick up women.
“I’m a rapper, I’m a graphic designer director, model, deejay and a professional b*tch snatcher,” Kreayshawn said. “There’s a lot of people that want to push you down. One, for being a female and one for being white. It’s hard but I don’t see it like that. In Oakland, that’s how you grew up…The best about everything that’s going on is I have my head on my shoulders, I know what I want, I know my vision and it’s not like I signed this record deal blindly — whatever happens, happens. I know that I’m a good person and that I’m smart and funny. If the music thing doesn’t work out, I’m talented at a million other things.” (“Carson Daly”)
Outside of marital talk, she recently discussed her forthcoming debut LP.
The album is almost finished, she says, and features a number of styles of music — from Baltimore club music to New Orleans juke. “I don’t really like ever doing the same thing twice,” Kreayshawn says. “Unless it was really good. Like if you eat somewhere really good, maybe you’ll go eat there twice.” The inevitable question is whether she can turn her “Gucci Gucci” fame into something long-lasting. Or whether she’ll end up another person of the viral video era whose 15 minutes of fame came and left. “If the album doesn’t have a hit,” Kreayshawn says. “I don’t care. I’m mobbin.’ I’m mobbin’ real hard. If something goes wrong, I’ll just take all my money and sell hella drugs. Then make a song about that. Then I’ll have another hit.” She pauses for a second. “I’m just playing. Kinda.” (Fres Nobee)

"We’ve Got To Keep Working For My Boy’s Legacy & Never Let Him Die"
Exclusive: “We’ve Got To Keep Working For My Boy’s Legacy Never Let Him Die”
Wednesday, Feb 22, 2012 2:00PM

Just over two months since the fatal shooting of aspiring rapper Slim Dunkin, SOHH recently reached out to Brick Squad Monopoly’s Frenchie to find out how his team has taken the loss.
Rather than sulk in depression and sorrow, Frenchie said Slim’s passing has pushed BSM to work harder and preserve the rapper’s legacy.
“I’ve always been able to move forward because I feel like the more you think about it, the more you suffer,” Frenchie told SOHH referring to Slim. “God works in his own purposes. That’s my brother right there. If I keep on stressing myself, I’m not gonna be able to do what my brother wanted us to do. We all go hard. We push ourselves within our Brick Squad family and follow suit. That’s what it’s all about. … [Slim's passing] pulled us together. That’s family and so of course it hit the home base. We’ve got to keep working for my boy’s legacy and never let him die. We can never let his spirit die. He’s no longer here, but he’s here in the spirit. The longer we keep it in the air, the longer people are going to know who he is.” (SOHH)
In December, Slim’s funeral took place in the rapper’s Atlanta hometown.
Rapper Gucci Mane attended the lavish funeral for fellow Brick Squad Monopoly rapper Slim Dunkin on Wednesday in Atlanta and RumorFix has the exclusive details. The body of the 24-year-old rapper, who was reportedly murdered over a Jolly Rancher candy, was heralded with trumpets and carried by pallbearers wearing coat and tails with top hats. White flowers that spelled out the word “Squad” were laid on his casket during the services that featured several gospel songs. While Gucci paid his respects to the up and coming rapper, surprisingly Slim’s buddy, Waka Flocka Flame, was nowhere in sight. (RumorFix)
Although Waka Flocka Flame did not attend the homegoing, he and Gucci Mane covered Dunkin’s funeral costs.
Waka Flocka Flame and Gucci Mane are throwing down big $$$ to cover funeral expenses for a fellow Atlanta rapper — who was brutally gunned down last week — lavishing their fallen comrade with elaborate memorial arrangements. Rapper Slim Dunkin (center) — real name Mario Hamilton — was shot and killed Friday night inside an Atlanta recording studio … after a verbal altercation with an unidentified man turned deadly. Now, a rep for Waka and Gucci tells TMZ, the rappers are pooling their assets to ensure Slim is laid to rest in the best way possible … with an elaborate funeral that includes a white horse-drawn carriage, massive white floral arrangements, and a white dove release ceremony. We’re told Slim’s family will cover some funeral costs — but Waka and Gucci are paying for the lion’s share. The funeral is scheduled to take place Friday morning at 11am at Berean Christian Church in Atlanta. (TMZ)
Following Dunkin’s passing, an emotional Waka publicly expressed his sorrow.
“WISH IT WAS ME … MY F*CKING RIGHT HAND IS GONE,” Waka tweeted December 17th.
“Never tell your problems to anyone…20% don’t care and the other 80% are glad you have them. #REALSH*T #F*CKDAWORLD”
“‘Truly great friends are hard to find, difficult to leave, and impossible to forget.’” (Waka Flocka Flame’s Twitter)

Kanye West Rants Over Ex-Girls In New Freestyle, "I Can’t Believe This B*tch Sent Me Through This Sh*t Again!" [Video]
News: Kanye West Rants Over Ex-Girls In New Freestyle, “I Can’t Believe This B*tch Sent Me Through This Sh*t Again!” [Video]
Wednesday, Feb 22, 2012 2:08PM

Grammy-winning rapper Kanye West is never one to resist applying shock value to his live concerts as new footage shows Ye spitting a freestyle targeted toward an ex-girlfriend over his “Say You Will” record in Australia.
The seven-minute freestyle has begun to circulate online this week, showcasing a humorous Ye delving into ex-girlfriends.
Rants and Kanye West go together like, well, rants and Kanye West. Dude’s become just as well known for his music as he has for his diatribes, many of which have come in a live setting. Like this most recent one that occurred during a show in Melbourne, Australia. With the “Say You Will” instrumentation behind, Yeezy launches into an Auto-Tune’d freestyle rant about all the females who have played him over the years. It goes on for about seven minutes, which might seem long but actually isn’t given his humor here. The thing about the Pitbull song might be the best part. (Prefix Mag)
In one instance, Ye takes his audience into a tale about trying to get some late night loving.
“It’s like, uh 2:45 and you know what type of texts n*ggas send at that time. I text her and I said, ‘Are you alive?’ That’s when you send that text and you say ‘Are you alive?’ Cause the only reason you not here b*tch you better had died. B*tch you better had died….Now it’s like 3:30 and you tell me that you’re on your way, and a n*gga so godd*mn horny you know what, I said ‘Okay.’ I just said ‘Okay.’ Who you gonna listen to, your ego or your d*ck? Ohhhhhh. The d*ck wins. Ohhhhhh…..no, no, no. And I can’t understand, holding the white wine, BlackBerry in my hand, looking at the time, 7 A.M. I can’t believe this b*tch sent me through this sh*t again! Oh you got me h*e! You’re gonna give me every chance you get! … That’s why I left your a** in the first place! That’s why I helped your a** in the first case. And you don’t even have the nerve to text a n*ggas. I left the door cracked open, New York City is dangerous, I coooould have been robbbed!” (“Say You Will” Freestyle)
No longer with ex-girlfriend Amber Rose, Ye previously opened up on his romance woes.
“I’m a hopeless romantic and I’m looking and trying to decide who the mother of my child will be. It’s not going to be based off a whim of being in love; she has to bring a certain level to the table. I want to be married, I want that super-dope counterpart, that one woman, but she has to be super-fresh, super-smart and not overwhelmed by her career. I’ll find her, maybe I’ll be 38 … maybe I’m not fully who I am yet, maybe that’s why I haven’t found her … The main quality is that you know that this person will ride or die for you. Whether she’s mad at you, whether she’s with you or nor, she still loves you, she stills bigs you up in any circle. She doesn’t talk down about you to other people. That’s the main thing that I need.” (ID Magazine)
Outside of love stories, Ye won multiple trophies at the Grammy Awards earlier this month.
And in a similarly dominant run, Kanye West and Jay-Z‘s “Otis,” won Best Rap Performance in the first hip-hop award of the broadcast — the fourth award of the day for West, who was a no-show at the ceremony, despite leading the nominations with seven. During the pre-show, he picked up Best Rap Song and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for “All of the Lights” and Best Rap Album for that track’s source, “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.” (Billboard)

“He Was The Epitome Of Hip-Hop & R&B. It Was A Raw Feel”
Exclusive: “He Was The Epitome Of Hip-Hop RB. It Was A Raw Feel”
Wednesday, Feb 22, 2012 3:00PM

With elusive soulful singer D’Angelo looking to make a strong music comeback this year, SOHH decided to hit up 112′s Slim to get his take on the RB veteran’s highly-anticipated return.
Along with being excited for D’Angelo’s return, Slim considered what type of approach the singer would take in his new music.
“Think about what he’s brought to the game. I know young heads might not really know about that sound and that feel, but it was like a real, I don’t even know how you can describe it. He was the epitome of hip-hop and RB to me. It was a raw feel of actual soul, real hip-hop. They were mixed in together. That whole sound, I kind of miss it,” Slim told SOHH. “It was like the Angie Stone-type feel. It’s a breath of fresh air and for me, I’m definitely a fan of all types of music. I love it when somebody can bring it back and I’m just really, really interested in what type of spin he’s going to put into it. Is he going to put in what’s going on right now, making it more futuristic? Or maybe he could go back and make it raw like he used to be. Either way, I’m a big fan of D’Angelo and can’t wait to see what he does next.” (SOHH)
In late January, D’Angelo was spotted performing live overseas for the first time in over a decade.
Earlier today, D’Angelo performed live at Filadelfiakyrkan (Google translation: Pentecostal Church) in Stockholm. A fan filmed the eight-minute video above, capturing the tail end of “Devil’s Pie” and a long, head-banging version of “Chicken Grease.” The Stockholm show is the first of 11 D’Angelo will perform on his European D-Tour, which runs through February. The tour is his first since 2000′s international Voodoo Tour. D’Angelo fans expect an album from the singer this year. Update: D’Angelo also debuted a new jam in Stockholm. (The FADER)
In December, The Roots’ Questlove spoke on him heading overseas and being nearly finished with an upcoming solo album.
“He goes to Europe in January. The album is pretty much 97% done. He’s just finishing his lyrics now. He needs somebody to smack him and take the record away from him because it’s pretty much finished. But I know he must turn this record in like three days before Christmas and that his first show is in Europe, and that he’s going to do a whole bunch. They even named it the Occupy Music Tour, so I know they’re serious about it.” (Pitchfork)
A couple years ago, RB singer Lyfe Jennings gave SOHH his opinion on D’Angelo possibly making a music comeback.
“I think it’s great, man,” Jennings told SOHH about Lauryn Hill and D’Angelo making music comebacks. “And I really hope they get the opportunity to come back because music is so finicky right now and when you look at the hope scope of where music has gone, it’s really gotten away from the real messages and people, and you know, enabling people and their growth. This music should be right now. So with [them] coming back, I’m glad, I’m really glad, actually.” (SOHH)
